I don’t want to start this saying I am a mother - it makes me feel old (I am 23), when in fact I am very young. But I guess I am really. I wanted to be a mother once I was in a better position to provide and teach and show. I wanted to be a mother once I was better able to show my son that one has to be an ethically minded creature and respect nature and the people we live with. But, of course, things never go to plan and thus I have begun my journey a little more extremely than I had expected.
I have had a complicated life, to say the least, and thus I thought children would be an option when I was a little saner and a little better grasped on the world before me. While being pregnant, I had time, forced time, to relax (see my post what pregnancy did to me) and with this I was better able to mature and begin my journey more fully into ethical living (ethical living to me is explained here ) Pregnancy was also the time I met my beloved boyfriend, Matt and thus a time where everything seemed to fall into place - a place I never thought I would reach, let alone be fortunate enough to fall into at the perfect time.
So, now my son is 4 months old and I have been delving into all sorts of areas in order to improve my life and be a great role model for my son. These include gardening, natural vision, diet and eating, minimalism, attachment parenting (I carry my little..or should I say fat bub in a sling) and generally consciously thinking and making informed choices. This very much started when I was pregnant - natural birth, naturally orientated birth plan (no vitamin K, no drugs etc), no vaccinations for the little one. And of course all of these decisions were carefully researched and thought out.
I do endeavour to document my progress and my choices here and why and hopefully be able to help others make informed choices and think a little differently about the way they are living.
I would also like to note that I am a student - my interests lie predominately in psychology - specifically substance misuse and recently, of course, environmental. I enjoy learning the guitar from my wonderful boyfriend Matt, ashtanga yoga, running, nice long walks, ultra running (I someday hope to endeavour on a beautiful long long run), environmental issues, and generally enjoying nature.
